CONNECT NEWPORT BEACH

Public safety agencies are most effective when they work together with their communities to prevent crime and respond to emergencies. In an effort to strengthen this partnership, the Newport Beach Police Department has implemented Connect Newport Beach (powered by Axon Fusus), a camera registration and integration program that allows residents to work more closely with law enforcement.

Through Connect Newport Beach, community members can voluntarily make their security camera footage available to the Police Department when needed, helping NBPD respond more effectively to critical incidents, conduct investigations more efficiently, and deter criminal activity. The goal is to increase community security while maintaining personal privacy. There are two ways community members can participate in Connect Newport Beach: through the camera registry or through camera integration.

Camera Registry - Residential

The registered camera program enables community members to partner directly with the Newport Beach Police Department by registering the locations of their cameras. The process takes about 60 seconds and does not give NBPD direct access to your cameras. It simply lets NBPD know that a camera is present and provides a way to contact you if your camera may have captured footage related to an incident in your area. Once registration is complete, investigators can easily locate cameras in the vicinity of an incident and contact camera owners directly to request footage.

Camera Integration - Commercial

Camera sharing allows the Newport Beach Police Department direct access to your camera feed in case of an emergency near your location. You set your preferences, so you can choose which of your cameras you’d like to give NBPD access to. Sharing your feed can improve police response times and help keep our officers and the community safer by providing law enforcement with real-time details as an incident unfolds.
