Newport Notified is a multi-channel (i.e. SMS, voice, email, etc.) communication solution that the Newport Beach Police Department uses to provide general and emergency information. It is hosted on the Genasys Emergency Management (GEM) platform.

The Newport Notified system is used to alert residents and subscribers about issues impacting safety, such as traffic advisories, crime alerts, and community updates.  It is also used for emergency notifications related to power outages, evacuations, tsunamis and others hazards where public safety is at risk.

The Newport Beach Police Department officially moved notifications systems from Nixle to Newport Notified. By April 12, 2024, NBPD will no longer send out alerts via Nixle. If you would like to continue to get crime alerts, traffic advisories, community updates, and emergency notifications, you will need to be signed up for Newport Notified.

Visit the registration portal to sign up for notifications and designate how you would like to be contacted. To receive text alerts, you must add your SMS (text message) phone number(s). You can find the registration portal here.

Login to the system portal and go to the page that needs to be updated.  For instance, account or emails, and update your information.  Remember to click the “Update” button when done.

Email messages will come from Newport Notified (noreply@genasys.com), phone calls will display 949-688-1844, and text/SMS messages will use the sender ID 65513.  We recommend you create a contact on your phone with this information.

Providing a location is required since many alerts are geo-targeted (i.e., location based). If you prefer to not add your home or work address, consider putting the address of a nearby landmark so you still receive the alerts for your area.

No, the information you provide will only be used by our system and local admins to send you alerts.  Your contact information will never be sold to an outside entity.

• Your contact information is not up-to-date
• You did not enable the SMS checkbox
• Your phone is off or busy for an extended period
• Your email provider may have placed the email in your spam/junk folder. Please add noreply@genasys.com to your trusted sender list. 

It is recommended you have more than one contact method registered.

You can unsubscribe directly from the system portal. Login and go to the unsubscribe button, then follow the prompts. This will delete your contact data from the system.
