The animals listed below are available for adoption at the Newport Beach Animal Shelter. The list is updated every few hours to reflect the current roster of animals whose hold periods have elapsed. Animals available for adoption from the City of Newport Beach are also listed on Petango.com, the Newport Beach Animal Shelter Facebook and Instagram pages, FONBAS.org, and AdoptAPet.com.
(If you are missing your pet, please check our Lost Pets section, which lists animals that are not yet available for adoption.)
- Adult Dogs: $150
- Puppies: $225
- Adult Cats: $90
- Kittens $110
A good first step to adopting any animal is deciding on the breed(s) of dog or cat that will best suit you and your family needs. It is wise to do a little homework first, reading books or magazines that give detailed information about the various attributes or deficiencies of the various breeds that are of interest to you.
Once you have narrowed your list of potential breeds and have decided on the approximate age group, you can begin your search for the dog, puppy, cat or kitten that is just right for you.
Hundreds of thousands of homeless animals find their way to animal shelters across the county. Because of this, we highly recommend that your adoption efforts start at one of these animal shelters.
The adoption process begins with the completion of an Animal Adoption Application form. Applications can be completed at any time during or after the required holding period for stray pets. No application will be approved for adoption until the animal has been held for the entire stray holding period.
