The Newport Beach Police Department (NBPD) has released a Critical Incident Community Briefing video detailing the events surrounding an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Saturday, September 20, 2025.

The incident involved Andre Matijasevic, who led officers on a vehicle pursuit, and after stopping, fired multiple shots at Newport Beach and Irvine Police Officers in the city of Laguna Hills. The officers returned fire, and Matijasevic was fatally struck.  The Critical Incident Community Briefing video includes body-worn camera footage, vehicle dash camera footage, helicopter footage, cell phone footage courtesy of County News Service, and other relevant information to provide transparency and context regarding the incident.
