On January 6, 2025, at approximately 12:35 a.m., the Newport Beach Police Department and Newport Beach Fire Department responded to the intersection of Birch Street and Bristol Street North regarding a single-vehicle traffic collision.

Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle and its sole occupant, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The driver has been identified by the Orange County Coroner’s Office as Brandon Beach, a resident of Costa Mesa. 

The investigation into the cause of this collision remains ongoing. The Newport Beach Police Department asks anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact Investigator Austin Laverty at alaverty@nbpd.org.
