Today, NBPD recruits in the OC Sheriff’s Regional Training Academy held their fallen officer memorial run. They ran in honor of fallen Officer Waldron George Karp (End of Watch 1/7/73) of the Tustin Police Department. This tradition not only honors those who have fallen but also instills a sense of duty and history in the recruits as they prepare to serve their communities. It's also a reminder of the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers and the legacy they leave behind.

Forensic science and technology play a crucial role in our investigative processes, especially in cases involving firearms. Our Rangemaster and Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) are key figures in this effort, as they regularly test-fire all found and evidence firearms in the range, leveraging the capabilities of the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) to help solve crimes and link various incidents involving firearms. NIBIN has proven to be an indispensable tool in modern policing. It enhances our ability to quickly link and solve multiple cases involving the same firearm, sometimes across different jurisdictions. This not only helps in apprehending perpetrators more efficiently but also aids in the prosecution by providing robust forensic evidence.

As we continue to reflect on our recent NBPD Annual Awards Ceremony, we want to extend a special thank you to the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriff’s Pipe Band for their incredible performance and for adding a profound touch of honor and tradition to our event. The presence of the pipe band greatly enhanced the occasion, making the event memorable for all attendees. Your music has a way of touching hearts and reinforcing the deep respect we have for those dedicated to law enforcement.
