Massage Applicants
Massage Permits:
The following guidelines have been provided for your convenience. For complete details, please refer to the City of Newport Beach Municipal Code Chapter 5.50. The City of Newport Beach Municipal Code Chapter 5.50 may be downloaded at no charge using the link at the bottom of this page, or a printed copy may be purchased at our Front Desk for $2.25.
All applicants (new or renewal) shall pay a NON-REFUNDABLE permit fee to the Front Desk officer of the Newport Beach Police Department upon submitting their application. The fees are as follows:

Bring your completed application, required documents, and fee payment to the Newport Beach Police Department on any Saturday or Sunday between the hours of 8:00 am and noon. No appointment is required. Your application, your payment, and your required documents will be accepted and your fingerprints will be taken.
New applicants - Approximately three (3) days after you have submitted your application, please contact the Detective Division to schedule a written examination. Written examinations are by appointment only. The phone number to schedule a written examination is 949-644-3790.
Renewal applicants need to submit their application at least sixty (60) days prior to the expiration date on the applicant’s current permit. Renewal applicants have the option of either participating in the written exam or providing proof of at least thirty-six (36) hours of continuing education as described in the Massage Ordinance 5.50.035D(2).
