Lieutenant Keith Krallman


Lieutenant Keith Krallman is currently assigned to the Detective Division as the Detective Division Lieutenant. The Detective Lieutenant, under the command of the Detective Division Commander, is responsible for the supervision of 40 sworn and non-sworn personnel in the Detective Division. The Detective Division is comprised of various investigative units, including Crimes Against Persons, Economic Crime, Burglary/Auto Theft, Special Victims Unit, Special Investigations, Crime Suppression Unit and Crime Scene Investigation. Lieutenant Krallman provides oversight for the Department’s Court Liaison Officers, School Resource Officers, Crime Analyst Unit and the Community Services Officers assigned to the division. 

Lieutenant Krallman holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Studies from California State University Long Beach and a Master Degree in Public Administration from Brandman University. He is a graduate of several advanced law enforcement training courses including the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute and a local community program called, “Leadership Tomorrow.”  He is also the recipient of many department and community awards for his service to the community.

Lieutenant Krallman grew up in Southern California and is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps (Reserve).  He served from 1989-1996 and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant.  He started his law enforcement career with the Los Angeles Police Department in 1995 and joined the Newport Beach Police Department in 2000.  He has worked a variety of assignments including: Gang Enforcement, Field Training Officer, Drug Recognition Expert, Tactics Training Team Member, Hostage Negotiator, Narcotics, Economic Crime and Homicide Detective.  He was promoted in 2010 to Sergeant and has supervised the Department’s K-9 program, Crisis Response Unit, Gang Unit, and the Economic Crime and Crimes Against Persons Sections.  Lieutenant Krallman also worked in the Chief of Police Office, assigned to the Professional Standards Unit.   

Lieutenant Krallman teaches Leadership Studies and Professional Communication at a local community college as an adjunct college professor during his spare time.  He also enjoys spending time with his family, reading, hiking and fishing.
