Lieutenant Jeff Brouwer is currently assigned as the Area 1 Commander in the Patrol Division.  Area Commanders are responsible for their designated section of the City and serve as members of the Management Team.  Area 1 includes the Newport Peninsula, Lido Isle, Newport Heights, and Newport Shores.  The Lieutenant also oversees Jail Operations and the K9 Program.

Lieutenant Brouwer began his law enforcement career with the Los Angeles Police Department and joined the Newport Beach Police Department in 2000. Lieutenant Brouwer has worked in a variety of assignments, including Motors, Background Investigator, Polygraph Examiner, Recruitment Officer, Reserve Coordinator, Crisis Negotiation Supervisor, Patrol Sergeant, and Personnel and Training Sergeant.  

Lieutenant Brouwer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Studies from Cal State Long Beach.  He has also graduated from the Supervisory Leadership Institute.

Lieutenant Brouwer grew up in the area of Bellflower, California.  He enjoys spending time with his family, waterskiing, hunting and fishing.
