History Newport Beach Animal Control is an integral part of the Police Department and has been since 1948. The Animal Control team is honored to provide the people of Newport Beach, and the many visitors that come to enjoy this beautiful city each year, unparalleled service anywhere in Orange County. We are here to assist the community by providing these following services: Newport Beach Animal Control Patrols the beaches, parks and neighborhoods to enforce local, state, and federal laws that help keep our city safe.
Responds to Citizen complaints and inquiries
Transports injured animals to care facilities
Picks up stray and abandoned animals
Returns stray animals to owners whenever possible
Investigates and reports any animal bites
Investigates and prepares cases for court
Conducts permit inspections for private and commercial animal establishments
Captures and relocates wild animals whenever possible
Provides city sponsored and mutual aid to other agencies
Provides assistance to police officers when an animal is involved.
